Elders/Pastors
Christopher Ortiz was born in Brooklyn and moved to Puerto Rico at age 12, where he later came to faith and sensed a call to ministry. After moving to Jackson, TN, he began his M.Div. at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and in 2018 was sent by his church back to NYC to engage in gospel ministry. After five years as a church planting resident and local pastor, he now serves as the main preaching pastor of Brooklyn Baptist Church. He and his wife Sarah have three children: Elena, Elijah, and Sofia.
Bill Chibowski was born in Poland and has been a member at BBC over 40 years. He is a master carpenter and enjoys working with juniors, helping people, and fixing things.
Deacon
Griffin Ver Steeg has been a member of BBC since 2019 and helps lead the worship team. He was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. In 2019, Griffin moved to Brooklyn where he now works in film and commercial editing. He enjoys writing and playing music, going to the movies, and drinking coffee. Griffin is married to Emily.
Administration
Catherine Hoepfer serves as the church clerk and children’s ministries coordinator. She lives in Brooklyn where she has worked 21 years as a legal secretary. Catherine enjoys arranging volunteers and caring for young children so their parents can be in the worship service hearing the Word of God.
