Elders
Pastor Sam Gage heard the Gospel for the very first time at a football breakfast during his senior year of high school, and that day he put his faith in Jesus Christ. He went on to serve as a navigator on a submarine in the US Navy. After the Navy, Sam earned a Master of Divinity degree and returned to the military to serve as a Chaplain in the US Air Force. He came to pastor Brooklyn Baptist Church in 2013. Sam is married to Dana and they have three children, Samuel, Jeremiah, and Anna Grace.
Bill Chibowski was born in Poland and has been a member at BBC over 40 years. He is a master carpenter and enjoys working with juniors, helping people, and fixing things.
David Alvarado is a native New Yorker and specializes in expense accounting for a tech company. David is an avid reader who gravitates toward books on theology, history, and self-improvement. He finds joy in teaching, fellowship, and singing (poorly) at church. He lives in Park Slope with his wife and son.
Deacons
Barry Li is from Brooklyn and has been at BBC since 2015. Barry coordinates church maintenance and visitor welcome.
Griffin Ver Steeg has been a member of BBC since 2019 and helps lead the worship team. He was born and raised in Macon, Georgia. In 2019, Griffin moved to Brooklyn where he now works in film and commercial editing. He enjoys writing and playing music, going to the movies, and drinking coffee. Griffin is married to Emily.
Administration
Catherine Hoepfer serves as the church clerk and children’s ministries coordinator. She lives in Brooklyn where she has worked 21 years as a legal secretary. Catherine enjoys arranging volunteers and caring for young children so their parents can be in the worship service hearing the Word of God.
